Advanced Certificate Course in
Teaching English to Young Learners
|
TEYL in Japan
In 2005 Advanced Teacher Training
licensed its CertTEYL course to Edvec and "The Society for the Advancement of International Education" in Japan.
Edvec has done an excellent job of providing the CertTEYL for those living or working in Japan since 2005. They also obtained recognition for the course from J-Shine. "Teyl-JAPAN is recognized by J-shine, the English Instructors' Certification Committee, as a training course for teachers of English in Elementary Schools."
In 2010 Edvec decided to concentrate on providing the CertTEYL to elementary school teachers in the Japanese public school system. Starting in 2011 students will be taught English in school from Grade 1(before it started in Grade 7).
However if you work in a private language school in Japan, plan to work outside of Japan in the future, or do not need J-Shine certification, you are very welcome to enroll in our international version of the CertTEYL course.

For Which TEYL Course Should I Enroll?
You have two choices to obtain a TEYL certificate. If you live or work in Japan, you can either take the Advanced Teacher Training international CertTEYL course or the Teyl-JAPAN course offered by Edvec.
Those who do not need J-Shine recognition in Japan can complete the TEYL course with Advanced Teacher Training.

"The course gave me deeper insight into my current approach to TEYL and lots of new ideas to help me evolve into a better, more professional teacher.
The course was well laid out and full of useful information. The materials introduced in the online resources section alone were worth the price of the course! My tutor was extremely helpful and professional.
From novices to veterans, I would recommend this course to anyone teaching children or considering a career in TEYL. This is a great way to begin a career in TEYL or continue your professional development."
Basil Tonks - A Canadian teacher who is living in Japan. Basil is now a course tutor for the CertTEYL in Japan.
